Medieval and Renaissance Age – Archaeological Civic Museum “Pietro and Turiddo Lotti” of Ischia di Castro

The Ninth Hall shows medieval materials from the Hermitage of Poggio Conte and other artistic evidence from the ancient city of Castro

Pictorial cycle from the Hermitage of Poggio Conte

Protagonist of the medieval section, the pictorial cycle from the Hermitage of Poggio Conte attracts the visitor’s gaze.

The slabs with the paintings, recovered after being stolen, are displayed in a semi-cycle, recreating the visual effect of their original arrangement.

Decorations from the facade of the Cathedral of St. Savino di Castro

The other major attraction of the hall is decorative and architectural elements of the city of Castro from the Renaissance period.

Prominent among them is the Farnese coat of arms of the façade of the Mint, a building that faced the square of ancient Castro, designed by Antonio da Sangallo in Giovane.
